Absolutely, you can book accommodation only for an extra non fishing person accompanying you for an additional fee. We can also organise various tours such as bird watching, beach swims, snorkelling and the like during the stay, at an additional cost… Although sitting on a beach chair with a nice drink and a book is pretty appealing just the same…

Yes, we offer a 10% discount on all products purchased at hurleysflyfishing.com.au, with only some brand exclusions. After you book your accommodation you can contact the store directly or order online with a voucher code.

Yes, there are no fishing stores on the island, so you really need to plan well for your adventure to ensure you can achieve all you planned, including any mishaps along the way…

The main necessities are good soled saltwater flats wading shoes, Mako copper glasses, full length clothing, hats and sun gloves, bum bag, 8wt for the bonefish, tropical line, quality reel that can handle genuine runs and saltwater, a solid 10 or 12wt for bigger GT’s, 12-14 for sailfish and tuna, plenty of flies, leaders and tippet to suit… Plus a spare of your main used items just in case…

Yes Ikari will do your washing as part of their service, so no need to over pack.

We cannot recommend you enough, to ensure that you take out insurance.

Fishing in CXI has risks and you are a long way from home. There is NO insurance provided by Ikari House, and as a booking agent only, we try to ensure the best possible care, but we cannot and do not accept responsibility whilst there, as it is out of our control… So please ensure you have adequate cover for every possible scenario… Including medivac…

It is a mixture, and always changing for variety…
Basically an American style breakfast of bacon and eggs, sausages, toast, along with some cereals and muesli, lunches being lovely sandwiches and snacks, and dinners ranging from painted crays, to reef snapper, tuna, pork, beef, rice, vegetables, but genuinely lovely food…

Tipping is highly recommended, the guide, boatman, kitchen staff, cleaning staff, drivers,are all expecting tips, often at the end of each day, or at the end of your week. Ensure you hand the amounts you wish each to receive, and use envelopes if needed. Probably looking at $300-500 for the week, it is up to you, but the money goes to the families that can use it…
Another nice thing is to offer some of your fishing gear, that they could not afford or even have access to. There are many Stalker fishing shirts being used on the island both from us and our customers who have left them with their guides at the end of the adventure. All alcohol, soft drink, and excess water are payable at the completion of your stay using an honesty system.
Guides on a 1:1 basis can also be hired, usually at $100-$150 per day…
The last half day for Fiji returning customers is available on a pay per person basis. The cost of the guide and boat is divided by the clients and payable at the completion.
Essentially, everything you need is already there… Smiles are free…

8wt for bones with floating tropical line, 150-200m backing capacity on a reasonable reel, 10-12wt for GT’s, on a floater or sink line, 250+m capacity on a good reel…

The best reels for multiple trips are the Galvan Torque, Spoke or Rush, the best rods the Stalker Current, with a Rio or Airflo Tropical Saltwater line.

Bones; A range of sparsely dressed CXI Crazies and Clousers, size 4 and 6, varying weights, dominant white, plus other variants. Take as many as you will need/lose as no flies available on the islands.

GT’s; a range of large poppers, deceivers, minnow flies to attract these big buggers.

Needed to hold a few fly boxes, a few bottles of water, leaders, tippet, forceps, camera. The purpose built ‘Ikari’ (translates to bonefish) bum bag is my choice.

Thin sun protective clothing: 3 shirts and 1 pair of quick dry pants, maybe skins…

Sun gloves are a must as well as a hat that covers everything, or a Buff. You look like a Wally, but will appreciate it at the end of the trip… as will your skin Doctor!

Casual light clothing and shoes/sandals to wear after fishing and during flights.

Better with a solid sole. On sand anything is fine, but on coral, we need the protection.

Check that the lightweight socks are COMFORTABLE inside the wading boots, stops chaffing from coral/sand. We have a few choices in our stores at hurleysflyfishing.com.au

Sunscreen, zinc, Lip Balm (with SPF 15/30), medical supplies, anti-biotics…
